Too Soon?

I am counting down the days. No…not until Christmas. This is related to that holiday but this magical day comes ever so slightly sooner. Only 18 days to go people…18 days before we can all dig out and dust off our collection of Christmas jumpers! YES!

celebrate

What do you mean you don’t have a collection of Christmas jumpers? What…you don’t OWN a Christmas jumper?! Wow you are missing out my friend, on this joyous, festive item!

If you have read my ‘Little Old Me’ page you will know that I’m a sucker for an awesome looking jumper. I am often mocked for my strange love for this item of clothing. A lot of girls are shoe or bag fanatics, but me, I love jumpers in all their forms. From crazy prints, unusual styles to just a plain old comfy jumper. The king of all jumpers has to be…the Christmas style pullover of course!

I have one or two that are just desperate to make their annual appearance.  However, whilst waiting for some work to render, I thought I would peruse the H&M website to see what new items they have in. H&M is always a winner when it comes to jumpers and cardigans. Good quality, good fit and still a reasonable price.

Just look at these beauties I found online…

christmasJumpers

Ah I want them all!

gaze

I am definitely tempted by the middle navy jumper for this season. It’s a classic print with the traditional top third coverage. I just love the combination of wintery colours that would go really well with various coloured jeans that I own. Pair this with ankle booties, a cute bobble hat and a warm winter mac and a jobs a good’un.

I know the Mickey Mouse print and the My Little Pony design aren’t exactly screaming CHRISTMAS, but hey they are still magic based and what is Christmas without a little magic! I seem to be drawn to Mickey Mouse designs lately. I am currently typing this whilst sitting in my mickey mouse print pj leggings from Primark. Suuuppper comfy! I just love the ensemble that the model is wearing. Mixing the monochrome Disney print with a red checkered shirt underneath. Just seems to work!

Who says jumpers are just for day time ay?! Mixing two of my favourite things: jumpers and the colour green. I would wear this jumper to a December date night or to a festive jaunt to the pub after work on a Friday. I love that it’s still casual but the subtle sparkle dresses it up a little. Perfect for the up and coming festive season. I would definitely team this with skinny black jeans, heeled boots, a simple long necklace and a clutch bag. I would keep the accessories minimalistic so they don’t clash too much with the jumper.

I can’t wait to have a little look around the shops to scout out the new wintery christmas stock. Won’t be long before I’ll have to start thinking about Christmas shopping. Ah I love this time of year! If it wasn’t for the constant rain, then this would be my favourite time of year for sure!!

You guys got your Christmas attire at the ready? Not long now!

Just remember:

A jumper is for life, not just for Christmas.”

Erm…unless it’s a Christmas jumper.

Fancy Dress Fun Times – The Spooky Edition

Now I’m a girl who loves any excuse for a chance to play dress up! It allows me to stretch my creative muscles and to embody someone/something else for the evening. For one party I went as a dinosaur within a cardboard/paper mached Jurassic Park jeep!! That is why I bloody love Halloween. Even the bah humbug Scrooges of the fancy dress world come out to play. I know Halloween usually involves the usual costumes: black cats, vampires, skeletons, but hey…why mess with the classics?! You can take these original ideas and add your own touch to them to make them unique.

Sadly I have no parties to attend this year but I think me and the fella may stay in, throw some scary films on the tv, carve some pumpkins and paint our faces! Painting faces is always a must! I thought I would put together a little post for those who may need some last minute ideas for this coming all hallows eve.

Skeleton

skeletonCostumes

With this skeleton theme you could go three ways with this: full on get up, just the artistic face, or rock a skeletal outfit. If you don’t feel comfortable with your whole face painted, you could don a skeletal themed outfit like this adorable ASOS dress. If I were to wear this I would also go for a 90’s style black choker like in the photo, black nail polish and some chunky blocked heeled boots for sure. This swing dress is really cute and fun and would make a nice causal house party style outfit.

I think I would probably go with choice number two. I would go with a cool black outfit, which means I could wear it again over the festive period. I would either go for a long floaty black dress, or something like this gorgeous ASOS strapless jumpsuit. With this jumpsuit you would be able to accentuate your makeup by bringing it down to your chest like the images at the bottom there. I have actually used these images before as reference when painting my friend Luke’s face a couple of years back. The shapes are quite simple but it’s all about the blending to get those deep hollow shadows.

ASOS Halloween Skeleton Heart Swing Dress – £22.00

Vampire

vampireLook

I like using items of clothing for costumes that I already own or buy pieces that I would like to wear again on other occasions. With saving to travel at the moment this is a must for me. With this vampire look you could use many different items that you probably already own in your wardrobe. Velvet items, LBDs, Skinny jeans, anything red or black really. I fell in love with this sexy little velvet lace crop top from River Island. You could team this with ripped skinny jeans, or leather trousers for a sexy femme fatale look. Again I would wear this with chunky block heeled boots and accessorise with Halloweeny themed jewellery. I also found this amazing knit dress from Nasty Gal that has this fun red lip print, I thought this would also be a good choice for a vampire theme.

I love the really creepy style makeup there on the bottom left. Teamed with some faux fangs this would certainly win in the heebie jeebie stakes. Or you could also go down the sultry road with smokey eyes, winged eyeliner and team this with deep red lips. This would work really well with the velvet cami and jeans look.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

dayofthedeadlook

This is one of the themes I am toying with this year. I would love to create a colourful style face design like the image just above. I love the intricate swirls along with the bold eye designs. Nick has painted this style on me before a couple of years ago, which was fun. This costume is all about the face, the floaty dress and the flowers. There are many images out there on the interweb that you can use as reference for the face painting design. The main features are the dark eyes ringed with circular patterns, the forehead and chin designs and the delicate skull features woven in.

To finish off your facial masterpiece you’ll need flowers and the bigger the better. Loose messy hair with some floral detailing. You can find many floral hair accessories around in the stores but I chose to add this purple wild rose crown, made by Stephanieverafter, to the image collection. I came across this company when I joined The Blogger Programme and watched some of the ‘Blogger Box Openings’ on YouTube. This name kept popping up so I took a look at the site. I thought her crown pieces would be perfect for such a costume. I loved this purple colour, very Halloween.

Monster

MonsterLook

Okay so the images I have above aren’t quite the big green fluffy kind, but I thought that if you wanted to go as something a little different, something fun which doesn’t require hours of paper macheing or spending your Halloween evening sweating in a monster onesie, this could be a more playful and girly alternative. Ok I am in love with this monster tshirt and clutch bag!!! Look at their little faces. I would actually wear/use these other times apart from Halloween. You could team this tshirt with anything from a black bodycon midi skirt to leather leggings to denim shorts. So many options with this fun top. I would definitely team this black ensemble with these vibrant monster themed nails. As for your makeup, you could go as crazy and creative as you want, you are monster after all. I quite like this messy, distressed glitter look with bright polished lips.

Porcelain Doll

DollLook

Last year I went to a Halloween party as a broken porcelain doll, as you can see from the top right hand picture. There’s Nick in his awesome homemade Frankenstein’s Monster costume! He even had a mug to match. I wore a very 70s style shift dress that I bought from Primark many moons ago and tied some black ribbon around the waist to bring it in. I teamed this with black lace up heels, frilly ankle socks and a skull bow headband that I bought from H&M. I used bright purple eyeshadows for my doll eyes, teamed with false eyelashes on both my upper and lower lashes. I applied a generous amount of bright pink eyeshadow to my cheeks and placed red lipstick to just the centre of my lips to give me that delicate doll look. To finish the whole costume I carefully painted black crack marks across my face and then used white paint to add highlights. This gave the cracks more dimension.

These are some of the images I took inspiration from for that night. I found these dresses and thought they would work really well for a doll outfit. The shift style dresses really seem to work well for this costume idea as they kind of create a girly girl, dainty look.

I’ve Fallen in Love…With More Clothes!

Yes I know I haven’t finished the rest of my Ireland blogs yet, I’m easily distracted. Distracted by sheinside.com *swoons*

I stumbled across this clothing website and I’m just in love with their stuff and the prices are…actually not too bad after the shipping fee has been added on! I thought I would put together this little blog post to show some of the things I am rather fond of on here right now. They have a nice variety of styles from casual to adorkable to dainty prettiness and a lot of the designs I haven’t seen before. I have found lately that most of the usual sites I check out have the same stuff across the board. I won’t chat about everything you see as, even though I love a good waffle, it may be a bit much for one post. So I will just chat about a few pieces but I will leave all the links to each piece at the bottom for your browsing pleasure.

Oooo check me out and my collage skills…

“Oh it’s all so pwiddy!”

Short Sleeve Cartoon Dinosaur Print T-Shirt

Yes dinosaurs are beautiful too. Who doesn’t love a good dinosaur based piece of clothing?!? I sure do and I just love their cheeky faces. Being in the industry I’m in I would happily rock up in this with a pair of skinny jeans and my black converse. ROAR! This cutie is only £8.20. Say what?!?!

Apricot Short Sleeve Deer Print Loose T-Shirt

This little bargain is a steal and I was just drawn to the soft floral sleeves and the beautiful deer illustration on the front. I would either wear this with skinny jeans and ankle boots or tuck it into my black quilted skater skirt with booties/converse.

Blue Lapel Short Sleeve Floral Pleated Dress

Now I love a good peter pan collar look whether it be a top, a dress or blouse with a layered jumper. I was lured in by the beautiful blue print and the detailing on the collar. I actually do not own a collared dress but I would love to add one to my collection. I would keep this simple with mid heeled open toes shoes and minimal accessories. This dress speaks for itself without needing extra bling (do people still say bling?!). Loving the hair style on the model as well.

Mint Green Lapel Double Pocket Longline Wool Coat and Black White Notch Stand Collar Long Sleeve Oversize Houndstooth Coat

I have two very similar coats in this post. I love love love an oversided longline coat. I tried getting one last winter but I struggle getting coats that fit me. I’m a size 10 and 5’7″ but I always find that I have to go up 1-2 sizes just to get the sleeves to reach past my wrists as well as fitting across my back without feeling the stress of the arm seams wanting to split. Me Hulk! However getting the bigger sizes means they usually swamp me in the waist region. Anyone else have this problem? Or just me? These coats are so versatile and can be worn with both casual and smarter ensembles. There have been many pastel versions of these coats this past Spring, especially pale pinks but I do love this mint green version to brighten up the day.

Grey Black Long Sleeve Mickey Hooded Sweatshirt

I know I’m not supposed to be spending money *she says staring at an unopened ASOS parcel on her desk* but I really really would love to own this. I’m a massive Disney/animation/film fan and have been ever since I can remember. This just looks so comfy and I adore the little ears on the hood. I would wear this with skinny jeans/leggings and my flats/converse. It has a very unusual zipped pocket along the front too which would be so handy for keeping a tiny purse and your phone in rather than carrying a bag. Want want want!

Black Vintage Floral Chiffon Kimono

All I have to say about this is:

“I bloody love a good kimono jacket”

Black Spaghetti Strap Lace Chiffon Playsuit

wolfwhistle

*wolf whistles*

Just wow! Isn’t is beautiful. I would have to pluck up the courage to go out in this as the lace makes it look a little more like lingerie but my it is gorgeous. As it looks like it would be quite short I would probably wear this with my black flatform midi heels and maybe team it with a floral kimono, like the one above. This would be a great for summer drinks or a BBQ party.

I hope you liked my Sheinside favourites post today and enjoy perusing through the site yourself. It’s an American based company so if you are from the land of foreign like myself they have delivery options here.

Friday Frock Wishlist

Happy Friday everyone! Is it me or has this week just flown by?! Cycling to work in the sunshine and spending lunch times relaxing in the park just makes the working week a whole lot better don’t you think?

So I was having a little procrastination time at work and as usual browsed through some of my favourite clothing websites to see what’s about. Yes yes I’m trying to save money for my soon to be adventures but there is no harm in a little window/screen shopping 😉 I thought I would share five items that I am just loving at the moment.

1. ASOS Pretty Maxi Dress In Floral Print

ASOSFloralDressThis has been sitting in my saved items tab for a couple of weeks now. Sadly it seems to be out of stock…dammit! But you never know when ASOS might bring more in. I really love the vintage esque style with the small pleats below the bust line and the gorgeous button detailing down the front. It actually reminds me of a dress my mum used to wear when I was little.

You can’t go wrong with this kind of floral pattern. It’s sparse so it doesn’t make the long dress too busy and distract you from the detailing. I would, like in the photo, team this with a long pendant necklace but maybe go for a sandal style heel rather than these cowboy ankle boots. You could definitely convert this into a wintery dress with an over sized chunky knit cardigan and heeled boots. It was £55 when it was in stock. Lets hope they bring this back in.

2. Olawia Flower Print Skater Dress

MissguidedDress

Now I am a big fan of the skater style dress. I don’t have the biggest of busts and am quite bony along the chest so I often prefer tops and dresses that come up around the neck. I always prefer keeping my chest covered and show a bit of leg instead. This is from Missguided and is a bargain at only £14.99. They have teamed it with this perfect minimalist leather waist belt just to break up the pattern over the dress and accentuate the waist. I’m also loving this black Fedora hat (£12.99), it completes the look of the outfit nicely. Really tempted to get this! Again it can be transformed into a winter dress with tights, a black or bright coloured jumper and heeled ankle boots. No…must resist!!!

3. Free People Slip Dress in Floral Print from ASOS

AsosNavyDress AsosNavyDress2

This is a little out of my price range at £88 for a causal dress but it’s still a good’un for the wishlist. Maybe if I win the euromillions tonight ay?! How gorgeous is the back and the subtle ruching under the bust. My third floral piece for this post. You can tell I’m really loving the floral at the moment! With floral it comes in so many styles and colours it can just make a plain navy dress go from “ooo I like the style” to “ok I really would love to be wearing that right now” The colours of these flowers just pop out of this dress. I like the combination of this girly style with the biker boots. This is new in for ASOS, nice work guys and girls!

4. H&M Woven Top

HMTopOk ok so this isn’t a frock…unless its a really really really short one?! No? ok I thought I would mix it up a little with some tops on this weeks wishlist as well. I received an email from H&M this morning announcing their new stock and this called to me. It’s simplistic, minimalist but bold with the small yellow insert. You could wear this for smart occasions or throw it on with a pair of denim shorts for a picnic in the park. This is also a bargain at £14.99. I am tempted to purchase this as when hanging the washing out to dry the other day I noticed all my tops seem to be black, white or grey. Yeah this combines two of those colours but the yellow just makes it a little more summery.

5. Bold Floral T-Shirt from Oasis

OasisTopThere I go again with another floral piece. Look at this gorgeous colour though. My favourite colour! I originally wanted a dress from Oasis that was in this pattern for a wedding I was going to. I waited for ages for it to come in store but when it finally did, it just wasn’t very flattering in the end. This has just come in and I’m intrigued to see what it’s like on. No greasy food whilst wearing this though. It says it’s cotton, but you can see a sheen to it so I bet getting marks out of it would be tricky. I have a bad habit of getting food down new clothing, like a magnet ha ha! This is currently £32

Well there is my little Friday Frock (and a few tops) wishlist. Hope you’ve enjoyed 🙂 I’ve included the links in the titles if you want to have a little screen shop yourself.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. I’m off to a black tie charity ball this Saturday so I’m super excited about that.

soexcited

I will try to get a few photos and blog about it soon. I have a few posts that I need to catch up on so stay tuned.
